Hotel Tivoli surprises with its unusual interior and shower-toilets from Duravit
Attraction with a long tradition: the Tivoli in the centre of Copenhagen is one of the oldest parks in the world and has attracted several million visitors a year since it opened in 1843. The four-star Hotel Tivoli with congress centre is situated not far from the park, in the district of Vesterbro. The
architecture and interior design by the Danish architect Kim Utzon take their cue from the dreamy charm of Tivoli Park. The interiors are correspondingly colourful, cheerful and unorthodox. Some of the rooms have a circus theme with strikingly coloured fabrics and furniture. The suites have a more elegant tone, with quieter colours and dark wood. Unusual decorative elements, like a drum-shaped silver bedside table with suspended ballerina light hovering over it, give them a more playful touch. Comfort is the watchword in the bathrooms: the SensoWash Starck C shower-toilet from Duravit cleans quite naturally with water but with Philippe Starck as its creator it is also a genuine designer piece. The versatile Bacino washing bowl, also from Duravit, is a further eye-catcher in the bathroom.
From the outside, Hotel Tivoli is an ensemble with two towers of different heights.
The windows are framed and protrude from the façade, giving the structure a livelier appearance. During the day the building is white and grey but at night it is illuminated in different colours, from green and blue to red or yellow – as colourful as Tivoli Park itself.
